We have a number of critters that have special needs.  Some can't walk due to being attacked by dogs, stepped on, or neglected, others are undergoing veterinary care for ailments or injuries that are still healing. Their care, medication and veterinary expenses can add up rather quickly and sponsoring one would help us give them what they so desperately need after others have failed them.

Meet Pippi.  Pippi came to us in summer of 2009.  A couple brought her in and said that she just wandered into their backyard.  But X-Rays revealed that Pippi has no knees, so she couldn't have walked into their yard.  Pippi never was able to walk and never WILL walk. She cannot move her legs at all and spends her day on a soft pillow or outside in the sunshine when I supervise.  She loves baths and mac and cheese.

This is Phoenix. She was hit by a car at City Park in New Orleans and left for dead.  She lay on the side of the road for 3 days.  On the fourth day, a good samaritan saw her lift her head up, and realized she was still alive and she was brought to us.  She had an awful gaping wound on her right side, all the skin was missing, her muscle was exposed and she was covered in maggots. Her right leg was also badly broken. She was in such bad shape, and she smelled TERRIBLE but she had the will to live and recovered nicely.  Other than a light limp, she's doing great.  She has been with us for a year now.
